ABOUT ABOUT

Every filmmaker that entered the 2015 Josiah Media Festival receives free admission to all festival screenings for themselves and their crew! For more information on how to get your all-access pass, please email us at [email protected].

The URBAN-15 Group is proud to present the 2015 Josiah Media Festival, one of the nation’s longest-running film festivals exclusively for filmmakers 21 and under! During the two day festival, we will be screening short films spanning a variety of genres, from comedy to drama to thrillers and more, as well as the 12 prize-winning films from four film categories (narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental). An awards ceremony will immediately follow the Saturday evening screening, featuring live Skype conversations with winning filmmakers from around the world. Please note that some films may contain material that is not suitable for all audiences.

In 2015, the Josiah Media Festival will celebrate its 9th consecutive year as a juried festival. Each year, this festival receives increased international attention and participation. During the 2015 call for entries, we received films from India, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Spain, Russia, Iran, Portugal, New Zealand, Taiwan, Finland, South Africa, Chile, Denmark, Estonia, Kosovo, the United States--and San Antonio, Texas!

The Josiah Media Festival was founded in 2007 to honor Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented media artist from San Antonio who succumbed in 2006 to bone cancer. In honor of this artist, his parents Marcus and Nancy Neundorf collaborated with URBAN-15 to create the Josiah Media Festival, designed to showcase outstanding works by young filmmakers around the world. Since its founding, young filmmakers participating in the Josiah Media Festival have gone on to receive acclaim at other film festivals worldwide, garner attention from national and international media, and begin thriving professional careers in the film industry.

“URBAN-15′s Josiah Media Festival is one of the best film fests in San Antonio. Every year, the shorts films sent from all over the world by filmmakers under 21 years of age confirm what I see as a growing trend: oftentimes, student films are better – much better – than films made by adult directors.”
