ABOUT ABOUT

This fall, filmgoers in San Antonio, TX will unite with audiences around the world to view and judge the work of the next generation of filmmakers. The 18th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival will screen for two weekends (September 25th/26th and October 3rd/4th)at the URBAN-15 Studio, beginning at 8pm each night.

Last year, Manhattan Short received almost 600 short film entries from 47 countries, with 10 finalists selected. A global audience not only screened these ten finalists but judged them as well. Manhattan Short’s unique and enduring feature is that it offers cinema goers a chance to become film critics, filling out a ballot after the screening that allows them to vote for Best Film and Best Actor.  Votes are sent to Manhattan Short HQ, and winners are announced the week after at ManhattanShort.com. With past finalists achieving the ultimate in recognition by being nominated and even winning the Oscar in the short film category, Manhattan Short is well recognized as a breeding ground for the next big thing in film.

In the words of founder Nicholas Mason, “In times like these, cross-border events like Manhattan Short that contribute toward greater tolerance and understanding are needed more than ever.  … This project is not going to cable TV or Video on Demand, it’s about communities bonding together via their local cinema.”
