URBAN-15 is proud to present Morton Subotnick, a pioneer of electronic music and multi-media performance! In celebration of his 80th birthday, URBAN-15 has invited him to San Antonio to present a live performance of his most classic work, "Silver Apples of the Moon," which in the 60's was the first electronic music composition commissioned by a record company, thus changing the direction of electronic music.
The three performances will take place thursday, friday, and saturday, Feb 21-23, at the URBAN-15 Studio at 2500 S. Presa at 8 pm. These performances will feature a four-channel surround sound format with the seated audience set in facing quadrants towards the composer and his hybrid BUCHLA 200e synthesizer.
Tickets are $25 per person. There will be a meet-and-greet reception with the composer occurring after the Friday and Saturday performances. Admission to both the concert and reception is $40.
Saturday will feature a special "composer's forum" workshop featuring a lecture, demo, and open conversation with Morton Subotnick. This event is at 2 pm at the URBAN-15 Studio, and admission is $10.
